Headed for some well-deserved shore leave, Shepard is gunned down in the streets of Seattle, a victim of “a mugging gone stupid”. He awakens, not in a hospital bed, but in the surreal world of Purgatory.
Within seconds of his arrival, he is saved from a gruesome and painful end, by his new best friend Horace. That’s Quintus Horatius Flaccus the philosopher, to you Roman history buffs. Horace explains to Shepard the cold, hard rules for surviving in Purgatory. More than just the walls have ears, and he’s not sure how long Shepard will last.

It’s been one year since the incident at The Lazarus Tower, and the destruction of the Hemo-goblins. Shepard and Andrea are in love, and Horace is beginning to move past Matthew’s unintended betrayal. But all is not well in Purgatory.
A powerful, hidden Angel is on the prowl, and he doesn’t like Matthew’s protection of Shepard and Horace. He’s planning to deliver his own judgment, to exact a pound of flesh or two for their audacity, and focuses his attention on Matthew.
Matthew knew it was only a matter of time before he’d be called to atone for his actions. Now he waits to reap the fate he has earned. But this Angel’s retribution won’t be laid on Matthew alone. He’s decided all of them will suffer.
Friendships will be tested and old enemies battled. Vengeance will reign, as impossible choices are made if any of them hope to see another day in Purgatory.
Three years after suffering torments at the whim of Daniel, The Guardian of the remaining angels in Purgatory, Shepard is left a wretched soul, untethered and adrift. But things have catastrophically changed in the delicate balance. There's something unholy festering beneath the overcrowded streets of Purgatory, and only Shepard knows the key to its survival. New friendships and alliances are formed, old friends resurface, and others are cast aside. Purgatory will never be the same, if it survives at all.
And, coming soon... book 4, The Lonely Death.
After suffering a horrible and unintentional accident at the hands of Horace, Shepard finds himself trapped in a different realm, forced to accept a proposition from the would be deities ruling there. If he succeeds, he may be allowed to return to his friends in Purgatory. If he fails, he may be forced, even if there’s nothing left to return to.
New friendships are formed, and old ones rekindled with people he thought were forever lost, making his decision to return to Purgatory a no win situation. But there’s a malevolent force lurking, trying to tip the scales further out of balance.
Shepard races against time, his friends and the insidious Other Things, with his very soul hanging in the balance.
